I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way--things I had no words for.- Georgia O'Keeffe

I know it has been a really long time. I have been waking up every morning wanting to write, almost like an obsession or something! However... I had work to do. Not paid work, but housework. We were painting. My shoulders are no longer sore, well not today anyway. I do have striped bruises across my shin and calves from the ladder! That should rack up a few sympathy points. Our last paint adventure was much more fun. We were still in TN and our friends came out to help! It is always more fun to do tasks with friends. Kiah and I work well together though. I have all the intricate work and he does the huge blank slate and we usually have the music so loud that the neighbors think we have lost our minds! Our first day painting we listened to an XM station with Classic Rock from the 70's and 80's. I would start to sing and he would ask me to name the artist. I think I bottomed out somewhere around 6 out of 40, and that was with hints. Kiah has decided I will not be his music life line on any game shows! Smart move on his part! We only have our bedroom, the bathrooms and the kitchen left to paint! yippee! Of course our bedroom and the baths will have last billing. I am so excited though to look out my bedroom and see color! It is not crazy colors, but for us, anything is better than white. White is white, even if it is called Navajo white, it still just institutional -white. We painted a cotton candy pink wall in Michela's room. Forrest said the color made him want to throw up, Kiah said it made him hungry, and Michela and I, well, we were tickled pink! hee hee! Actually it reminds me of a drink my oldest sister Edith used to drink. I think it was a "pink squirrel". It is a nice color and looks great next to the wall that seems to have every pull out of the Jonas Brothers on it. The colors in the house make me feel like painting. (something other than a wall) You know like trying my hand at real art, or what I have been known to paint, which is more like Kinderart! Georgia O'Keeffe I am not. I dabble and can copy a few simple things, but I enjoy painting flowers and such, not so much landscapes or fruit. I will leave that to the "Almighty Artist". That is the guy on PBS with the big hair, the turtleneck and the color crimson on the tip of his paint brush. Color is such an important part of life. A gray cloudy sky, can make a person gloomy; a blue sky makes some people cheery and a black sky can really freak a person out! If you meet someone with a purple or pink house (painted on the outside) you may think twice before asking their color advice, because for all we know or at least hope, they could be color blind! Not to say that a purple or pink house doesn't have it's place, like maybe in Florida or California, but definitely not so much on my street or on my house! FYI, I love the colors pink and purple. I am a Minnesota Viking fan so purple runs through my veins! Our two small trees are beginning to turn beautiful shades of orange, yellow and :) crimson! A few leaves have fallen and it is so wonderful for us to experience the change of seasons. The grass is still green and the air is still warm, and at night you feel that fall is just around the corner! Oranges and red have always been very comforting colors for me. I am not sure why, they just make me feel like I am home. Now if I need some energy, I throw on something with fuchsia. (hum, maybe I should walk around all day in fuchsia!) I guess I will have to consult a color chart to find out why!

I'll be homeboy's music lifeline on any future gameshows he may appear on.

I know I'm just an inlaw, but I am pretty handy...
