"Our elections are free--it's in the results where eventually we pay." Bill Stern
I grew up in a hard core Democratic home. My father even ran for County Commissioner once. Like most Democratic homes, we have all been destined to live lives of community service and such. When I turned 18 I registered as an Independent. I wanted to find my own way, make my own choices and understand the issues without having one side guide me in a particular direction. I find it very odd that of my father's 4 daughters, we all married Republicans. I am not sure that Kiah has always been a Republican, I think our military lifestyle has a lot to do with it. Politics is a very serious issue these days. I don't like to talk politics at home, I can truly see both sides of the issues. My concern is how do I make the choice when it comes to casting my ballot. Do I make my choice like I do the books I read? By the cover? Do I choose like I do my wine? Cold, red and international? Or, is it like I choose my fruits and vegetables? I want firm ones, not soft and ready to expire. Another option I have considered is making a choice like channel surfing. Sort through the options until I find one that suits me. However, not all the choices that I make for me are good for everyone. OHH I have so much research to do. Screw it... I am going to have a glass of red wine... Merlot? Cabernet? Pinot Noir? hummmmm
"In joining a political party, people shouldn't have to swear everlasting agreement with every jot and tittle of their party's policy manifesto. Debate, disagreement, argument, are good for democracy not bad." William Watson, Columnist & McGill University Professor
